Roof and Building Envelope Assessments

Before a contractor or building owner can be confident of envelope performance or proceed with any corrective action to a roof or wall system, the most complete, accurate and up-to-date information should be made available about its condition. HICAPS’ ASNT Level I and Level II Thermographers utilize non-destructive infrared scanning in accordance with ASTM C1153, ASTM C1060 and ISO 6781 to detect temperature gradients created by moisture and missing or damaged insulation within roof and wall assemblies. To verify that thermal anomalies found in roof systems are in fact caused by moisture, nuclear moisture mapping is then performed utilizing a state-of-the-art Nuclear Roof Moisture Gauge.

Thermography is also valuable for identifying air leakage sites in building envelopes while a building is under fan-induced pressure. This inspection is performed in accordance with ASTM E 1186 (see Air Tightness Testing).
